Green Services

57 companies were registered in Malta last year which progreen servicesvide "green services", Resources Minister George Pullicino said.

He said that the companies either offered eco-services or provided eco-friendly equipment, all of which could be considered as "green jobs".

The minister was speaking during the launch of the 2010 subsidy schemes being offered by the Malta Resources Authority for photovoltaic panels and solar water heaters.

The government has issued various "green" schemes in the past - such as energy-saving bulbs and subsidies for energy-saving appliances. Once the schemes ran out, people still tended to opt for the greener options, he pointed out, so the schemes had a much longer permanent impact than one would expect.
